I received today, my payment to the tax office for my registration sticker. Why??? I was told I passed. I checked paper work and Bart Brown failed me because he didn’t like the tire wear. They are only a year old. I passed the emissions test too. I’m not sure if he was the same guy acting odd to us, but I feel this place screwed up big time. Do not go here!!!! I’m a single mom trying to a house full of kiddos. I don’t have money to buy appropriate tires for Mr Bart Brown.
Ms. Roberts, the State of Texas requires all vehicles pass a minimum standards safety test. Tire tread depth is part of that safety test. The reason being, as tread depth diminishes, hydroplaning on wet pavement increases, therefore increasing the likelihood of a tire related crash. As an inspector, I use a tire tread depth gauge to determine the wear on a tire. This is not a subjective test. The gauge illustrates that the tire tread either passes or it does not. In your vehicle's case, it did not pass. As for the age of the tire, some tires are better quality and last longer than others. Also, I understand and can empathize with your financial situation. However, the State's reason to require minimum standards be met is not to cause a financial hardship on Texans, but to make the roads that we all travel on, safer.
